New online acquisition
Thomas Cook recently revealed a loss of over 106million Euros last year. The company explained that the loss was however, 27 per cent lower than the loss for the previous year for the same period. The company has just paid over 21million Euros for the hotel booking site hotels4U.com the deal includes maintaining the original site management team. The site currently has access to over 30,000 hotels and has a regular customer base of more than 500,000 users.
Thomas Cook said it was in a strong position for the rest of the years trading and their share price went up to 289p a rise of 1.5p. The acquisition is part of the company's future strategy to increase its presence in the independant travel market which is an area of growth within the sector.
